Making of On the road
One of my most memorable moment in my filmmaking journey. I got goosebumps from standing in the grand hall at the Synchron Stage in Vienna.
Type - Documentary / Behind the scenes
Purpose - Document the recording of the last track for the last DLC for PAYDAY 2 and to give it a proper send-off.
My Role - Director, cinematographer, editor, colourist
Approach - No pre-planning, just live recording on the spot. I had some shots in my mind that I wanted to capture and of course interviewing Even and Gustavo. Otherwise it was just a matter of moving around and trying to find the perfect moments.
Accomplishment - Giving the community an insight on how the song were made and the amount of taught that went in to it.
The video surpassed 30K views on YouTube.
The DLC is closing in and with that a grand soundtrack would be made. Gustavo had collaborated with Even Rogers on the track and they were going to record it with a live orchestra at Synchron Stage in Vienna. This was an opportunity to document the prosses for making the song “On the road”.
The brief was to document as much as possible so we can make a BTS video.
My responsibility was to ensure that we had the proper gear for the trip and that we got all the shots we needed.
Sins this was a day when they were going to record the soundtrack me and my colleague didn’t have any time to prepare any storyboard or visualization in advance. So well on the stage we just hit record and started recording the orchestra. Quick thinking and quietly moving between the instrument we made it happen.
While editing I found a nice way of making you feel like your in the room but still hearing the crisp soundtrack. I stacking the final mastered version of the song and the raw camera sound input so you can hear the fine and raw sound of the instrument you are watching.
